What are Circle Lenses?
Circle lenses, also known as enlarging contact lenses or big eye lenses, are a type of cosmetic contact lens popularized in the world of K-pop, cosplay, and other entertainment industries. These soft lenses are designed to enhance the appearance of the eyes by creating the illusion of a larger and more defined iris. They provide a colored tint on the periphery of the iris and cover a portion of the white part of the eye (the sclera). This gives the eyes a larger eyed appearance.
This patient's main goal was to make her eyes look bigger. We decided to proceed with a larger diameter iris color to provide this look.
With the circle lens, we were able to enlarge the iris by a modest 0.5mm on each side. She was pleased with how natural the eye looked as it matched her natural eye color with only the extra ring of color around her own iris.
In our office, we prioritize eye health and safety and only use FDA-approved materials to provide this look. It is essential to measure the appropriate curvature of the eye, prescription, iris diameter, pupil diameter, assess on-eye movement of the lens, and to go over the appropriate solutions and wearing schedule necessary at a minimum.
At a consultation, we will go over your goals, take measurements, and apply demos of circle lenses onto your eyes to assess the fit and look. There are a variety of options available!
