About Us

A hand holding a small medical device with a metal tip against a solid light green background.

A niche micropractice.

We are wholly dedicated to specialty contact lenses. For patients with keratoconus, irregular corneas, dry eye disease or significantly high prescriptions, custom contacts, such as scleral lenses, can help restore quality of life and avoid the need for unnecessary surgery.

The latest technology.

We are committed to using the latest technology to ensure the best possible fit and visual outcomes. We are constantly researching and incorporating new technologies to improve our patient care and results.

A different type of care.

Our aim is to provide the type of care we would like to receive ourselves. To us, that means unrushed appointments with ample one-on-one time with the doctor, open communication between appointments and upfront billing practices.

Scleral lenses are the most advanced, customizable type of contact lens.

  • Scleral lenses are large diameter gas-permeable contact lens devices.

Rather than sitting directly on the eye like a traditional soft lens, scleral lenses only touch the sclera (the white part of the eye) and vault entirely over the cornea (the front of your eye - a clear layer of tissue that covers your iris, pupil and lens). This vault - the space between the contact lens and your cornea - is filled with fluid and creates a new, perfect focusing surface.

By vaulting over the eye with fluid, we are able to manage complicated eye conditions such as astigmatism, keratoconus, corneal transplants, severe dry eye, corneal scarring, LASIK complications and more. These lenses can be life changing.

  • A scleral lens consultation is the best place to start! Slam dunk cases tend to be those who have high astigmatism, irregular corneas, keratoconus, corneal scarring, corneal transplant, post-lasik, post-RK, severe dry eye, Sjogren’s Syndrome, and Bell’s Palsy.

However, the list of eye conditions that would benefit from scleral lenses is so long that we do encourage a scleral lens consultation to best determine your personal candidacy.

  • At a scleral lens consultation, we will first learn and discuss your eye health history, take profilometry and topography scans, and discuss your needs. If you are new to scleral lenses, we will place a “demo” scleral lens on your eye(s) to check the vision potential of your eyes, as well as to see if your eyes feel better if your condition is related to dry eyes. If we determine that you are a candidate and proceed with scleral lenses, our doctor Dr. Seif then orders a unique, custom designed lens and adjusts it until the most optimal vision and fit is achieved.

For established wearers, we would assess your current prescription and utilize anterior segment OCT to assess the fit of your current lenses. We may also run aberrometry measurements to see if you would benefit from higher-order aberration correction. We would determine if your current lens design is appropriate healthwise, or if you would benefit from a different lens design.

  • If you are looking to establish care with us for your scleral lens needs or would like a second opinion on your current scleral lenses, please request a scleral lens consultation and we’d be happy to provide you with specialized care.
